![]() I am OK with using just the regular yellow/green antifreeze that I have been using for decades and see no reason to try to use this stuff in our Jaguars. After what I have read I have no intent on contacting Prestone or anyone else. He only gave me a few gallons so I will just give them away to someone that might be able to use them rather than dispose of them at our local hazardous waste facility (most of the plastic bottles are new with the seal intact). It can help to improve the life of your water pump. Includes a 5 year, 150,000 miles of protection and meets GM spec 6277, ASTM D-3306 and D-4340. May be used in all other cars and light duty trucks with aluminum radiators. I don’t know anything about those cars, but perhaps he used this product in them? Antifreeze/Coolant Concentrate Orange 1 Gallon Designed to be used in all cars and trucks requiring GM DexCool. The friend had a PT Cruiser, a Minicooper and a Boxter. Since posting this I did some more research on the internet and also in the Jag-Lovers archives and the general consensus is that I should not use the DEX-COOL in any of our Jaguars either to add to the existing coolant or when doing a flush and refill. I read the labels and didn’t find anything that would indicate a problem, but thought I should ask around before I start using it. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t use DEX-COOL in the Jaguar 5.3L V12 engines, or any of my other Jaguar with I6 XK engines?Ĭan I just add it to my Jaguars when I need to top off the existing non-DEX-COOL coolant? I can see from the labels that they both contain ethylene Glycol (107-21-1) and diethylene glycol (111-46-6) but the DEC-COOL also lists sodium 2-ethyl hexanoate (1) and sodium neodecanoate (3). ![]() I have historically used other Prestone products in the cooling systems of my Jaguars, but never a DEX-COOL formulation. I recently acquired a few gallons of Prestone DEX-COOL antifreeze/coolant when a friend moved out of the area and decided not to take it with him.
